I have to admit I drove by this place many times and never thought about going in. Finally it happened! I have to say this was the best lunch I have had! From the friendly waitress to food to the beer I have only have good things to say. If you have never eaten here it is a must!!!!

“Always great German food!”

This restaurant consistently serves great food. We came recently on a Spring evening and enjoyed a table in the biergarden. The selection of beers and serving options is impressive. We started out with side salads with a very nice cucumber dill dressing. For entres, we had different types of schnitzel, and all were delicious. For sides, the red cabbage, potato...

“Good German food!”

My husband and I often visit Cumming from Ohio. We always eat here. The staff is friendly and efficient. It's a small place and tables are close together so don't go for a private tete a tete, but to enjoy a good meal with lots of regulars.

“discount for cash payment”

I will start with a something I thought was nice. They give you a cash discount. I was not ready for it so I did not have to much cash on me. So I wanted to let you know.
The food was very good. I had the Grilled Chicken Waldorf Salad. I order the honey mustard dressing on the side. Knowing the German love for hot mustard, I thought it might be hotter than I would like. It was but the salad was so good I ate it without dressing. I was going to ask for another dressing but the chicken was done to perfection and the salad did not need dressing. I thought it a little odd when the ice tea came. The waiter said they put Cloves in the Ice tea. I was not a big fan of it.
The apple strudel was packed with apples and very good. This would have been a 5 if the waiter would have told me about the ice tea. I think if you put a strange twist on Ice tea in the south you should tell the customer when they order. That is my only knock. The food was great.

May 29, 2010 - - We went to Gasthaus Le Cafe after finding it on Urbandpoon. We both love German food but tend to stay away from it because it is such a 'heavy' meal. Gasthaus was remarkably delicious and lighter fare. I can't wait until we go again to try another dish.

March 13, 2010 - Really likes it - We spent a month in Germany and I can say that this place is the real deal. It is completely authentic. The food is fantastic and the people are wonderful. They make you feel like family. You can also get real German beer in a 2 L boot! Don't be fooled by the building. We absolutely love this place and can't say enough good things about it. It's a new family favorite.

January 20, 2010 - Likes it - Chef Reinhold is a genius with the way he prepares his entrees. Holstein Schnitzel is my personal favorite. Price is reasonable, service is good, and food is excellent. Portions are adequate and beer is in tune with the food served. Chef Reinhold loves what he does and it shows. Takes a lot of pride in his creations and is proficient with an Italian menu as he is with a German menu. And why not? He was a chef in Germany and Italy too.

September 25, 2009 - Really likes it - This place is absolutely amazing. We loved everything from start to finish...Try the German potroast (saurbraten) with potato salad or the spaetzle. The desserts are also worth saving room for...we all got a dessert and shared...try the home made apple streudel or the raspberry ganache. The people are so nice, and the restaurant really gives you a home-like feeling.

"Wonderful Place" by Ray Spitz (1 review)
August 21, 2009 - Likes it - I have eaten here several times and each time the food and service were extraordinary. I just booked my anniversary dinner here.I especially recommend the Goulasch, as you can't really get that dish anywhere else. The German Plate (a German sausage combo) is wonderful as is the Jaegerschnitzel. If I could, I would eat here repeatedly and work my way through the entire menu, one delightful meal at a time. Make certain you save room for dessert. The restaurant itself is cozy; if the weather is mild, I would recommend seating in the outdoors "Biergarten" in back. The staff is attentive and will make certain you lack for nothing, no matter where you are seated.

"Gasthaus Scores Big" by Karl (2 reviews)
July 07, 2009 - Really likes it - WOW is all I can say. We've driven by Gasthaus countless times but have been intimidated by eating German food. That was until now. I was so excited to go I had laid my clothes out hours before hand and for a guy to do that over a restaurant is not common. The inside dining area had a cozy feeling as well as a sort of togetherness/family feel. We however, for our first time wanted to eat outside. The waiter was very nice, very attentive. The salad presentation, although some might not pay much attention to presentation of a salad, was a very welcome primer to what our dining experience was going to be. It bits of the salad were just nicely placed and was very tasteful. Our main dishes were extremely delicious. I had ordered the Kaseschnitzel and my wife ordered the Rahmschnitzel and both were extremely delightful. It was very tender and the portions were more than satisfying. The red cabbage was tender and sweet and not crunchy at all. The wine was excellent and the desert was, even though we were already full, very light and complimented our diner very well.Overall, good service, excellent help from the waiter in picking out complimenting foods, the atmosphere, and a very friendly visit from Chef Reinhold Weger himself made our night out a night to remember. We haven't thought this highly of a restaurant in a very long time but we left Gasthaus in awe and highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to spend a nice cozy diner out on the town.Danke vielmals!
